Come Home (II)

How can we come home, you ask?

First step is to travel, the same way we travel all over the western world showcasing various aspect of it. Traveling to Africa (pick a country of your choice) will allow you to create your own narrative about the continent, one country at a time. when we travel to other countries in the western world, we are boosting their economies through tourism. so why not pour some (or all) of that money into the African economy, because a stronger independent Africa is good for all black people.

Promote awareness through social media. If you post pictures of historic African landmarks on social media like you do with the likes of the Wall of China, London bridge, Time square etc, the world will be previewed to the beauty of the continent. Imagine having an engagement shoot by the Ikoyi bridge or Eko atlantic instead of by the Eiffel tower. This will encourage others to look into these parts of the world.

Invest…Invest…Invest, pick a country and invest/build there. Believe it or not, a lot of white people build and retire in Africa because it is a peaceful place. My white coworker traveled with me last year to Lagos, Nigeria and said to me “John it feels different here”, I had to ask what she meant by that. She explained that her perspective of the continent has changed, the people are very nice and it is just so rich in culture. We then proceeded to look at land and houses for purchase. The African continent is the richest in both human and natural resources in the world, which is why others (Non Blacks) invest there. So trust me when I tell that the continent is ripe for BLACK investments. The great Tony Elumelu aka Mr Afro-capitalism has encouraged us for years to invest in ourselves (Black people) and Africa as a whole.

So next time they say go back to where you came from, don’t be upset… JUST COME HOME.
