Come Home (I)
Why is ‘Ending Racism’ up for debate especially towards blacks? In my opinion, it is the same reason why folks stay in abusive relationships/homes. They think there is no place to go.
Growing up, my mother taught me and my 6 siblings to always make sure we individually have our own. She said “If you don’t have your own then you will be a slave to your brother/sister”, I never understood that until now. There is a difference between i’m coming to visit and I’m coming to stay. When you visit, it indicates you are coming from somewhere and can go back there whenever but staying indicates I have nowhere to go back to. Depending on what category you fall under, you are treated differently.
All over the western world blacks are treated differently because they have been convinced that there is no place to go. Even the elite blacks don’t feel safe (Mario Baloteli, Lebron James etc). Blacks are segregated to specific areas, so that they are easily targeted. We have accepted it for years because a negative picture of our home continent, Africa (richest continent in human/natural resource) has been painted to us. Blacks in the western world and blacks in Africa don’t get along (good job white people), so there is no way to have a real conversation about both our realities. Well that ends NOW!!! Together we can create a new narrative about our home.
They say go back to where you came from …………so come home.
